14 June 1998 - Sunday

Antica set out on her next journey. This time, around two Americas. The crew is: Jurek Wasowicz and Marcin Sochaj (for those who don't know - Andrzej's son ). The first 'shift' of the crew sails to Amsterdam. The nearest harbour is Lubeck in Germany.

Antica has new mast, rigging, sails, radar and some of the electronic equipment. Engine with transmission had undergone major overhaul, bowsprit and boom had been lengthen. The whole wiring had been changed for new one.

Antica's departure wasn't too good. In the morning on the day of the planned departure Antica experienced starter failure, it took half a day to repair it. When trying to depart engine stopped three times, this was caused by the fuel filter, which was taking in too much air. After checking weather conditions (wind 7 B on the west Baltic Sea, and sea surface up to 4 at Beaufort scale) Jurek decided to postpone a date of departure from Jun/11/98 to Jun/14/98. Till this time the west storm decreased a bit, but did not stop completely. The day after Antica had left Gdansk it started to blow from west again, but this time the storm was stronger.

Latest news will appear soon.

Regards from Gdańsk - Mirek W±sowicz (for those who don't know - Jurek's son) ;-)
